Apple Ginger Snap Cocktail

This apple ginger cocktail is a festive fall drink bursting with spices – and it’s even a bit healthy! A homemade ginger simple syrup blends with apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vodka to create the perfect holiday cocktail.

I don’t know about you, but heading into the holiday season for me means there is always a mile-long to-do list.

Whether you are looking for a great cocktail to serve at a holiday party, or simply a way to combat holiday fatigue, nothing’s better for the season than a gingersnap cocktail!

Regardless of the occasion, this apple cider cocktail ought to do the trick. What I love about this drink is the combination of apple cider, ginger simple syrup, and cinnamon.

Add in a few granny smith apples (yes, they are good for more than just baking – but check out these Apple Pie Cookie Cups!) and you’ve got yourself a nice green apple cocktail and the perfect drink for some fall sipping. And it looks pretty, too!

How to Make Ginger Simple Syrup

Ginger root has been used to lower cholesterol and inflammation, ease arthritis pain, lower blood sugar, and improve brain function.

So you could say this apple ginger cocktail is healthy. Sort of.

To make your own ginger simple syrup, combine one cup of water with 1/4 pound of peeled, sliced ginger in a medium saucepan.

Bring it to a low boil over medium heat, then immediately reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Strain out the ginger, then add one cup of sugar into the warm, ginger-infused water. Stir until it’s completely dissolved.

Allow it to cool, then store in the refrigerator in an air-tight container. It will stay good for 2-3 weeks.

Apple Ginger Cocktail Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 2 ounces apple cider
  • 1-ounce ginger simple syrup (alternatively, you could use ginger liqueur)
  • 1/4 tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp peeled, grated fresh ginger
  • Dash of ground cinnamon
  • Dash of ground cloves
  • Dash of ground nutmeg
  • Granny smith apple, sliced thinly, for garnish
  • Cinnamon stick, for garnish
  • Ice

Making an Apple Vodka Cocktail

Fill up a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.

Add the vodka, apple cider, ginger syrup or liqueur, honey, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and fresh ginger. Shake until well combined.

Strain the drink into a cocktail glass and garnish with granny smith apple slices and cinnamon stick. Enjoy!
