Guinness and Black Bean Chili Loaded Spiralized Fries
Guinness and Black Bean Chili Loaded Spiralized Fries are a fun and festive dish perfect as an appetizer or hearty enough for dinner!
We are diving straight in.
To every single thing that March has to offer: March Madness, St.Patrick’s Day, Easter, Spring Break, and Daylight Savings. Come to think of it, I guess I didn’t realize all the things that take place in March. Maybe it’s because March has 31 days? Or that the weather is nicer? Whatever the reason, we are going all in.
In my monthly newsletter that went out on Saturday (by the way, if you don’t subscribe to my monthly newsletter I highly suggest you do. I talk about all sorts of fun things and mention any news updates about CGM before it hits mainstream). You can subscribe here.
Okay, where was I? Yes, the topic of my newsletter. I talked about some seriously delicious recipes coming at ya hard core this month and it starts with these Guinness and Black Bean Chili Loaded Spiralized Fries. I might be on a bit of a Guinness kick so brace yourself.
What I love most about this recipe is you can make it ahead of time. The Guinness and Black Bean Chili is made in the slow cooker which is a total breeze. The sprialized fries take a hot second to make, but is great distraction for when your team is down and you need to focus your cheering energy elsewhere.
Once you’ve got everything assembled, you know the drill. Pile everything together, top with cheese, and broil until golden brown. Isn’t this the best way to start March? I think so. Just don’t ask me this after this Sunday. Why must Daylight Savings be so difficult? Pass the fries.

Cook Time: 8 hours
Ingredients:
- for the Guinness and Black Bean Chili:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 lbs 1-inch steak cubes
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 green pepper, diced
- 2 tbsp ground chili powder
- 1 tbsp celery seed
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 2 15oz cans black beans, rinsed and drained
- 2 10z cans tomatoes with chilies (don’t drain)
- 1 bottle Guinness beer (or any dark larger)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh chives chopped, for garnish
- salt and pepper to taste
- for the Spiralized fries:
- 3 medium russet potatoes, peeled
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- for the Guinness and Black Bean Chili:
- Preheat a large skillet to medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Next, add in the steak cubes, salt, and pepper. Brown the steak cubes for a couple minutes working in batches if need be.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and place the steak cubes in the bottom of a slow cooker. Add in the onion, pepper, chili powder, celery seed, cumin, paprika, black beans, tomatoes, salt and pepper. Stir to combine. Pour in the Guinness.
- Set the slow cooker on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours.
- To assemble: place the sprialized fries on a serving tray. Top the fries with the Guinness Black Bean Chili followed by mozzarella. Place the fries under a broiler for a few minutes until the cheese has melted. Garnish the tops with chives. Serve immediately.
- for the Spiralized fries:
- Preheat an oven to 375 degrees. Spray a large baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
- Next, spiralize potatoes into a large water path. These helps remove any starches so the potatoes are nice and crispy. Place the spiralized potatoes on a wash cloth and pat dry.
- Place the spiralized fries onto the baking sheet. Spray the tops with non-stick cooking spray, salt and pepper. Bake the fries for about 15 to 20 minutes or until crispy.
