Slow Cooker Cuban-Style Pulled Pork is an easy and delicious meal to make that is full spice and cooked in the slow cooker.
Growing up in Kansas barbecue is everything.
Anytime I can grill or smoke meats I’m always happy to oblige. There’s something about slow cooked, juicy, tender barbecue that makes you have all the feels.
Even though I love my pellet grill and try to cook everything I possibly can on that thing, I still like the convenience of my slow cooker. I have so many slow cooker recipes on CGM. Ranging from whole chickens to pizza to side dishes. There’s nothing my slow cooker can’t do!
Case in point: I want to show y’all how to make these Slow Cooker Cuban-Style Pulled Pork sandwiches. Mixing things up from traditional barbecue and adding some Cuban flair. These bad boys are so tender and a breeze to make!
Let’s dive in!
What’s in this Slow Cooker Cuban-Style Pulled Pork?
I love making meals in my slow cooker because you can set-it and forget-it. For this recipe all you need to do is mix a few ingredients together, pour it over the pork, and let the magic unfold. The flavor of the pork is 100%. Okay, you will need:
Boneless pork shoulder roast
Onion
Tomato sauce
Garlic
Molasses
White vinegar
Whole grain mustard
Oregano
Cumin
Sweet pickle relish
Hoagie buns
Tips for Making Slow Cooker Cuban-Style Pulled Pork:
1) Slow Cooker. I adore my All-Clad slow cooker, but any one will work. Just make sure to layer the onions on the bottom and place the pork on top to keep it from sticking to the bottom.
2) Pork Shoulder. For this recipe you want about 3 to 4 lbs of pork. Whenever you cook a piece of meat in the slow cooker it will shrink in size.
3) Heat. If you want to add some heat to this pulled pork add a pinch of cayenne!
Can I Make this in the Instant Pot?
Yes! You will prep it the exact same way as the slow cooker, but the cook time will only be 35 minutes!
Can I Substitute the Pork Shoulder?
Absolutely! You can definitely use chicken thighs or even flank steak would be delicious!
