Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Using a paring knife cut a large circle in the top of the boule. You will want to cut a hole that goes ¾ of way down into the center or enough of a hole to add in the sloppy joe meat. Remove the excess bread and place the bowls on a baking sheet.
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan and stir in garlic powder, onion powder, and 2 chopped garlic cloves. Using a pastry brush, brush the insides of each boule.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat add a splash of olive oil and the ground beef. Using a wooden spoon, break up the beef and cook until it is no longer pink, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove any excess rendered fat from the skillet.
Next, add in the onion, red pepper and remaining garlic. Keep cooking until the vegetables have softened for about 4 to 5 minutes. Stir in the barbecue sauce, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. If you need to add water at this point to help thin out the sauce that’s okay. Bring the mixture to a simmer and simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Spoon the sloppy joe mixture into each boule. Sprinkle the tops with cheddar cheese and cook in the oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Serve and enjoy!
