15 Miles And A Dangling Man
I did it!
15 Miles and I’m not dead! Booyah!
To be honest, I was terrified about completing this part of my training. The furthest distance under my belt is 13.1 miles, but that was two years ago when I completed the Aspen Golden Leaf Half Marathon. So, I knew today was a big deal. Plus, if I couldn’t complete all fifteen miles then there was no hope in trying to run The Big D marathon. No pressure.
I ran the first nine miles by myself which was great because the sun was shining and the temp was right around sixty degrees. I felt surprisingly good.
I met up with Mr. B to finish the last six miles. He is training for his first half marathon and today was his long day of six miles so why not run together. Isn’t there some saying that, couples who run together stay together? That is probably just some hippie BS.
Anyways, the next three miles flew by. We were settling into a great pace and I was feeling like a stud. But then we suddenly noticed a large crowd of people gathering at a bridge and wondered what the heck was going on.
As we got closer, this is what appeared….
A man dangling from the bridge with some sort of exercise equipment below him. No one could figure out what the heck he was doing. This is why you don’t do drugs kids.
After I snapped this photo we took off to finish the last three miles but I couldn’t get back into a groove. Darn you dangling man!!!
I swear if Mr. B wasn’t there to push me, I would have fallen over and died. I would have been road kill. He kept saying you can do it, you’re almost there. I seriously fought my way through those last three miles. I don’t know how I managed to finish but I did. Praise Jesus.
After a quick cool down of icing and stretching, I felt like I was on a cloud nine. 15 miles, done. Check it off the list.
I think it’s safe to say that The Big D marathon can remain on the calendar!
First, WTF is up with dangling man?! Seriously, WTF?!?
Second, hooray hooray hooray! You are amazing and I'm so excited for you!!! Remember, some training runs are just plain hard. But that makes you tougher so you can kick ass on race day. LOVE YOU!!!
