Halloween Party Food Ideas for Adults

Halloween is almost here! My plan is to have a bunch of friends over and make a big batch of chili. I highly recommend making my ultimate lamb chili if you are in need of a good recipe. If you’re not a fan of lamb, you can certainly sub in ground beef, turkey or chicken!

I might even whip up some Roasted Butternut Squash & Pumpkin Queso Dip and top off this Halloween spread with my Hallow-Rita cocktail.

BUT! The piece de resistance is this Deathly Hallows Halloween charcuterie board. I might have to give myself a high-five for this one! Seriously, isn’t it so festive?

The rats were my inspiration behind the whole spread. With cobwebs as a base and the RIP brie coffin, I couldn’t wait to serve this spooky charcuterie board!

What Cheeses Go Well Together on a Charcuterie Board?

When choosing cheeses for a charcuterie board, select a variety of flavors and textures. Try to include one from each family below when making your Halloween cheese board.

  • Aged cheese: cheddar, comte, gruyere, gouda
  • Firm cheese: parmesan, manchego, asiago, edam
  • Soft cheese: brie, burrata, goat, mascarpone, camembert
  • Blue cheese: gorgonzola, roquefort, marbled blue jack

And did you know you are supposed to bring cheeses to room temperature before serving in order to bring out their true flavor?

How to Make an Easy Halloween Charcuterie Board

A lot of Halloween platters are full of candy corn, caramel popcorn, dried apricots, cheez-its, and all sorts of bright, autumn-hued foods.

Not this one.

I’ve gone with a creepy, spooky charcuterie board that is perfect for adult parties.

For the base, you’ll need some stretchy spider webbing to pull across your board. Then cut a piece of brie into the shape of a coffin and use a food coloring marker to write the “RIP” on top.

After that, this Halloween snack board comes together quickly. I kept it simple and used three kinds of cheese and three varieties of meat. Then I filled in the spaces with dark-colored fruits, nuts, and crackers.

  • Three varieties hard salami
  • Parmesan
  • Brie
  • Blue Cheese
  • Olives
  • Black Grapes
  • Red pear
  • Figs
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Almonds
  • Assortment of crackers

There are many more ideas you could add to your Halloween themed charcuterie board. Try some of the following:

  • Mini marshmallows dotted with black icing to look like eyeballs – or buy small candy eyeballs and scatter them around
  • Chocolate-covered nuts or raisins
  • Grape, raspberry, or any dark-colored jam
  • Fresh blackberries
  • Pretzel nuggets
  • Sliced bread – try a dark bread like pumpernickel to keep with the theme!
  • Caramelized onion dip
  • Whole grain mustard

To assemble the board, start by making large piles of food that you would want to eat together like salami, blue cheese, and crackers. From there, simply fill in the space with grapes, olives, nuts, fruit, etc.

And that’s all there is to creating an amazing DIY halloween charcuterie board! Just don’t forget the spiders for a ghoulish effect!
