a new day
Today I felt like a brand new person.
Love when that happens.
I guess all I needed was some sleep.
I actually passed out while I was reading in bed last night. This.never.happens. The crazy thing, I actually woke up in the middle of the night because I thought someone was trying to stab me in the NECK!. Turns out it was just the corner of the book poking me in my esophagus. Whew.
Things are starting to get a little CRA-zy at work. Every year around this time, people rush to tidy up their finances before the year ends. We usually spend a lot of time processing IRA contributions and distributions as well as making sure portfolios are balanced. It really is a mad dash until Christmas Eve.
But once Christmas arrives, it’s snoozeville U.S.A. I remember when I worked on the equity desk at Morgan Stanley in Chicago over Christmas break one year because I just started and had zero vacation. The office was so dead that a bunch of brokers and I ended up playing putt-putt golf to keep ourselves entertained. It was epic. Man, I miss my Chicago buds!
Well, and speaking of Chicago, my work outfit today definitely reminded me of something that I would wear in the windy city. Dark colors, check. Sweater, check. Sparkly accessories, check..check. All that’s missing is my GIANT parka! I’m not kidding when I say this would be my wardrobe for the next 9 months. I miss Chi-town, but not the weather!

After work I ran a couple of errands. I had to finish shopping for our Christmas angel! Every year Listy, who works for Family Tree (a non-profit organization), picks a child’s name off the tree for us to adopt. As a kid, my mom would always make my brothers and I adopt a kid off the angel tree in the mall. Probably one of my favorite Christmas traditions!
Anyways, we drew Murnaziah. She is a three year old little girl that wants a baby doll and clothes that are pink and purple! Adorable. I picked up a couple of things at Target…what do you think? Shopping for a kid is sooooo much fun!
Since my errands took longer than expected, I stopped by Whole Foods and hit up their hot bar.
Sweet and sour chicken with brown rice. Delish.
I have another phone date with Mr. B tonight. Hopefully he will have an idea of when he will return!
Have a relaxing evening!
I'm glad you got some sleep friend!
I still feel zapped from the weekend! Maybe we should think about slowing down?? Nah…
Bummer about Mr. B. Do you know when he gets to come home?
Thanks for adopting an angel child! She's going to be a lucky little girl on Christmas. You're the best!
Listy – No problem friend! I hope she likes what I picked out!
So sweet of you to take time to shop for the little girl.
Sorry Mr.B is still on the road. Wish I were in Denver with you.
Never thought about investments being busy pre-Christmas, but it makes sense.
Here's to a new way of doing Christmas in San Diego.
Love, Moomers
