Best Day…Sort Of, Maybe, Close…
I have to tell you that today was the best day ever! Jazz hands.
Well, maybe not ever but it was certainly close. I didn’t have to work today (thank you Mr. President) so I was able to fill my day with a mix of must-do’s and don’t care-do’s. Really, what more could you ask for?
To start….
I slept in this morning for the first time in a long time….praise Jesus. I was apparently worn out from all the excitement in Steamboat and needed to re-set my body. 10 hours of glorious beauty sleep.
Anyways, the next best thing to sleep, breakfast. I luv me some breakfast. Bet you can’t guess what I ate? Darn, your good….yup, scrambled eggs, toast with strawberry jelly, and a big ol’ cup of coffee. It was delicious.
Even though I wished I could have spent the whole day on the couch watching Food Network in my p.j.’s while eating Nutella from a jar, I did have some cleaning up to do. You know, laundry, dusting, vacuuming, blah, blah, stuff that I need to hire someone else to do.
I will say that it went by rather quickly because the next thing I knew, it was time to put my running shoes on and head out the door. I had to run 16 miles today according to ol’ Hal. I couldn’t have asked for a better day weather wise, sunny, 45 degrees with a slight breeze. This is the weather you dream about running in.
The run went surprisingly well, although there were a couple of moments were I asked myself:
Self: “Why are doing this? Why even bother? Why are you so slow? You could stop right now, have a delicious hamburger with a chocolate milkshake and all the pain would disappear.”
I eventually put evil Lauren runner aside and focused on breathing, stretching out, and relaxing. It took every ounce of me to finish, but I did! (Note: extremely slow time, don’t judge.)
I am SO glad you had a rest-up day! Much needed. Although I don't know that running 16 miles is a 'rest-up' day, but I know what you mean. A day according to your own schedule, that includes lots of rest, lots of exercise, and yummy food. That IS a good day.
BTW, you are going to be seriously a bit thin at this rate of running miles. Jeez! You can eat anything on the days you run 16 miles! Seriously, way to go…that is dedication.
Dad and I are off to Ta-Town tomorrow for an HMK meeting and to see Grandma and Grandpa. I hope your birthday package makes it by Feb. 25…if not, it is the President's Day fault!
Love ya, Mom
You are amazing! I'm so so so proud of you!
Good for you! I would die if I ran 16 miles. Hey, I sent you an email (the one listed on your blog) about Denver restaurant suggestions. Not sure if you have had the chance to get to it or not, but I would love any recommendations you might have!
