pasta with chicken chorizo, whole grain mustard, and basil
“Elevate your pasta experience with our culinary delight—Pasta with Chicken Chorizo, Whole Grain Mustard, and Basil. A flavorful symphony that transforms every bite into a gourmet adventure.”
I noticed something about myself this past week.
Something that I haven’t noticed in a long time. Maybe since my 20’s when I lived by myself. That’s weird to say.
With my dear Mr. B far, far, away in some hotter than balls desert talking all things oil-schmoil, I’ve noticed when he is traveling, my sense of urgency dwindles. I’m like, “manana” to the going to the grocery store, vacuuming the living room, and meal planning. Even though I consider myself to have a case of the OCD’s, none of these things seem to bother me. I literally could sit on the couch, watch marathon episodes of How I Met Your Mother, sip on a glass of bubbly, and eat takeout sushi the entire week.
I guess I don’t find it appealing to keep up the house just for me. I do pride myself in keeping a tidy house for the hubs, but sometimes a girl has to let her hair down and drop a crumb or two on the floor. Am I right? Right. I think in a way, it’s a good thing to have a balance of both. When the hubs isn’t traveling, I try to get stuff done before he arrives home so I can sit and actually chit-chat with him. Connecting at the end of the day is very important to me. How are you dear? What’s the latest and greatest?
But like I mentioned above, I also need time to marinate. I need to let things roll of off my shoulders because being a busy body at heart, I need a day or two to say, “manana.” Which is why I think this dish I made for y’all today is perfect.
This pasta is quick and easy for those crazy weeknights where you feel like you’re running around with your head cut off. But it’s also perfect for one because you could make this on a Monday and have leftovers for the rest of the week. Plus, the chorizo, cream, and mustard makes it feel all sorts of fancy! All you need is a little bubbly and your favorite show, and it’s insta-relaxation time. Even if it’s on the ol’ leather couch.
“Conclude your dining journey with the delectable Pasta, featuring Chicken Chorizo, Whole Grain Mustard, and Basil. A savory finale that leaves you craving the next flavorful rendezvous.”
Mmm! I love the fun pasta shape and all the basil in this! Perfect summer pasta recipe! Happy Monday, Lauren!
Thanks, Tieghan! It really is my new go-to for quick and flavorful pasta!
Great pasta dish!
Thank you, Maria! I hope you have a great day!
Hmm this sounds wonderful.
Thanks, Meagan! You can’t go wrong with pasta and chorizo!
This definitely sounds like my kind of dinner.
Thank you, lady! I’ll take pasta anytime there is chorizo involved:)
This looks delicious and I’m totally with you, when my “B” (yes, that’s what I call him) is gone I just want to do nothing at night, be alone and watch some show haha
We are soul sistas, fo’ sure, Carrian!!
A big fat YUM to this pasta dish! And I’m the exact same way when the hubs is working night shifts — I tend to forgo cleaning all the dishes that have piled up in the sink so I can fully enjoy my “me” time. It’s kinda nice! 🙂
Agreed! Saying no dirty dishes is the best feeling in the world.
Im embarrassed to say, that even when my husbands around, I occasionally, let the house go up in a hurricane…sometimes, I feel like I clean and clean, and it doesn’t even make a difference.
I would LOVE to spend the entire day today, with my butt plopped down my couch, mowing down this pasta, for every single meal, and snack, sippin’ on a cocktail and watching HIMYM, or another trashy drama for that matter. Its so sad, that that would be my dream day at the moment. hah
Definitional making this soon, I love all the flavors!
Not sad at all! I am totally with you on the plopping down on the couch, snacking on my favorite treat, and watching a little trashy tv. It makes the world right!!
You sound exactly like me! I love keeping the house clean and all the washing done for my Mr, but sometimes I just want to veg out on the sofa!! If he’s working on the weekends I’ll just sit watching TV all day chilling! During the week he’s late home every day, so I like to get stuff done so that the small amount of time we have together in the evening is time well spent 🙂
I love this pasta dish by the way! Only recently started having a little mustard and I really like it!
Thanks, Annie! I say a once a week veg out is a must! A girl needs to keep her sanity! 🙂 Have a great day!
See, I do the opposite when my person is out of town–I get everything just so and enjoy having things Exactly My Way for a few days! Actually, I guess that isn’t so different, is it? It’s just that “my way” varies from person to person. This pasta sounds great–and lucky me, I have practically all the ingredients on hand already!
Thanks, Eileen! And you are absolute right, “my way” no matter how you slice it is always the best! I hope you have a good day!
Great pasta dish! Some days it really does feel great to just be “manana”. I do the exact same thing when my man is gone!
White wine and heavy cream? I’m sold!
Ha-ha..when my boys all left last weekend I turned on HGTV and sat with bowls and bowls of quinoa…pure heaven! I love mustard in my pasta too!
This looks so scrumptious and your photos are just beautiful, Lauren! Great flavors in this dish.
I am totally the same way. Paul is gone right now and I just thought to myself that I should sweep the floors and then I thought again. I’d rather read blogs. 🙂 Love this pasta, dear!
So many weeknights are crazy and this looks like the perfect dinner!!
Love this pasta and How I Met Your Mother ; )
Thanks, Paula! I hope the last season is going to be good. Ok, really, I just hope Ted and Robin end up together:)
I just want you to know: Hubs is working in Milwaukee during the week. I am on my 3rd night with a veggie omelet. Thank you for reminding me that a) there is nothing wrong with this (especially since I had it with wine and 2) Tomorrow I can whip together this fab pasta instead. I love this. I really do.
Ha! I used to make a breakfast for dinner all the time. That’s why you need to make this pasta! Life savor:)
I’m totally keeping this recipe on hand – I’ve had quite a few of those dates lately where I just want to say “manana”!!
Thanks, Deborah! It’s definitely a good go-to!
Dear God this is perfect!! Mañana!!!!
Ha! We need to have a manana weekend! I hope you had a great time in Cali! Loved all of your pictures:)
I’m in need of a little of this here pasta! It’s been such a crazy summer! I’m with Liz.. MANANA! (ps how do you get that little ~ above the n? inquiring minds wanna know!
I was wondering the same thing? Clearly we need to have another bardo get together!!
I’m the same way. When I know my husband isn’t going to be home, I don’t even bother to clean anything until right before I go to bed. And when I know he’s coming home right after work I race around all frantic style and clean everything, and pretend like it was totally that clean all day. with a toddler.
AAAAANND I love the idea of mustard and pasta, that sounds amazing.
Great pasta dish! I love anything involving chorizo!
And I’m the same way with my house. When Jason is up north for school, the house is a crazy mess. But when he moves back, I’ll make it sparkling clean!
I love this. It looks like such a great combination – honestly some of my favorite ingredients of all time combined into one dish. Can’t wait to try making this at home. Dijon is such a staple of my life lately!
