lindt chocolate golden globes viewing party recap
There’s no business like show business.
Or, should the saying be, “there’s no business without 50 lbs. of chocolate to watch show business?”
Well, if the latter is true then we are on to something my friends. I had the privilege of hosting in my hometown of Kansas City an at-home Golden Globe viewing party with some of my favorite peeps. Truth be told, I am not one to stay abreast of the whole awards show scene. Remembering which actor played what role can be overwhelming!
But this year was a little different. When I was asked by the amazing folks over at Lindt Chocolate ( Official Confection of the Golden Globe Awards) to host an awards-themed party highlighting an array of their chocolates, what girl could resist?
Now, when it comes to hosting an at-home viewing party, one must keep a few things in mind. First, it all starts with your guest list. Keep your list on the smaller yet intimate size. Think of your viewing party as your own Golden Globe After Party where you want to rub shoulders with the best of the best. My rule of thumb: eight is great!
Second, you will have to provide entertainment. Have your guests fill out Golden Globe Voting Ballots before the awards start. This is a great way for friends to mingle and to get reacquainted with certain actor’s roles and shows. Set out Golden Globe BINGO (made by Ashley of Sugar & Cloth) so when the show starts, your friends can interact with the awards show in case the host makes some very bad jokes; or, if you can’t stop staring at the screen because Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt presented an award together. Also, the game has a built in edible bonus if you use LINDOR truffles as markers.
Third, have a smorgasbord of heavy hors d’ourves ready to go – Italian meatballs, hummus and veggies, pear and blue cheese flatbread, cheese, Spanish olives, and whatever you choose, don’t forget the popcorn!
Fourth, you can’t have an awards-themed party sponsored by Lindt Chocolate without a chocolate bar. The array includes: Lindt Chocolates from LINDOR truffles, EXCELLENCE dark chocolate bars, HELLO bars and bites, and imported Swiss Pralines – all decked out with movie reels to boot. Plus, don’t forget the piece de resistance, a special edition Lindt Chocolate box that each celebrity at the Golden Globes received at their place setting. It’s like I am practically feeding Ryan Gosling pieces of chocolate.
Most importantly, have fun! You can make any at-home viewing party a blast with good company, food, a class of champagne and endless amounts of the world’s finest chocolate.
Now, the show must go on!
