A Frosting Evening
Last night, was the Junior League of Denver’s Annual Holiday Mart. For those of you that are not familiar with Junior League, it is an organization of women promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through action and leadership.
Junior League has over 292 organizations across the United States, Mexico, Canada and United Kingdom. The first Junior League started in 1901! Some well known celebrities have been apart of Junior League: Julia Child, Laura Bush, Betty Ford, Katherine Hepburn, Eleanor Roosevelt, Nancy Reagan and so on.
With that said it was a true pleasure to be invited by my mother-in-law, Susie, to attend the annual holiday shopping event. Susie, is actually a member of Junior League of Wichita and was in town with another fellow leaguer, Patty.
The event was held at the Denver Merchandise Mart. We received a swag bag at the entrance with all sort of goodies, including a ticket for the Frosting event. At the Frosting, you get a glass of champagne with a diamond at the bottom of your flute and you don’t know whether it is real or fake. Once you drink your champagne, you take your diamond to the jeweler booth and they tell you yay or nay. None of us one won, but it was so fun!
The night was full of activities. We drank wine, enjoyed appetizers and desserts. My favorite dessert shop, Happy Cakes was there, so I gladly took advantage of the free pumpkin spice cupcake with cream cheese frosting. YUM!
We definitely did some shopping. I just love vintage jewelry, and with Susie’s help we picked out the best on the table. Betty Draper would be so proud.
'Atta girl on the vintage jewelry! Sounds like a really fun event! I love the champagne with the diamond in the bottom idea.
: ) Moomers
The bracelet's really remind me of Grandma Arlie and all of her vintage jewelry. She had wonderful taste:)
I kinda want to do JL too! You'll have to let me know if you join. 🙂
Katy – Will do! I hear that KC has a really good chapter.
