Mr. B arrived home just in the nick of time for his birthday dinner last night. Denver got it’s first real snow yesterday so I was a little worried his flight would be late or worse, canceled.

Everything worked out, thankfully. When Mr. B arrived I immediately put him to work on carving his birthday prime beast. Yeah, I don’t cut meat. Rules are rules.

Once the food was done cooking, I set the table for our autumn birthday dinner.
The food, to my surprise, turned out completely delicious. I was a little worried about the prime beast but with Mr. B’s help, we knocked this piece of meat out of the ball park.
Prime Rib with a Coffee Rub and Horseradish Chive Dipping Sauce
Whipped Mashed Potatoes with Whole Grain Mustard
Apple Cider Brussel Sprouts with Caramelized Shallots
We were definitely some happy eaters.
After filling our bellies with mounds of food, we moved to dessert. Because as they say, there’s always room for dessert!Mr. B was surprised that I actually got thirty candles on the cake and lit. With that many candles on a cake, it almost looked like a small campfire. Scary. And so I sang, “Happy Birthday to You”…..

Chocolate Sheet Cake with Chocolate Icing
The chocolate sheet cake had enough sugar in the icing to put a diabetic in a coma. So, to give our stomachs a break and really just relax, we watched a few of our favorite TV shows: How I Met Your Mother and East Bound and Down.
But in usual fashion, I couldn’t wait too long before I had to give Mr. B his birthday present. I LOVE giving people gifts. For me, I find complete joy in watching someone open their present and seeing their reaction. It’s absolutely priceless.
Hmmm…I wonder what it could be?
Could you hurry up?
Move it or lose it!
OMG. It can’t be?!
No way. It’s an acoustic guitar!
This freaking rocks!
Who is the coolest wife ever?
Happy Birthday Bret!!!
