During this time of year we are bombarded with Christmas movies on TV. Between twelve different versions of a Christmas Carol on ABC, to re-runs of disaster movies like the Nightmare Before Christmas, there are way too many options.

So, with the spirit of Christmas and the procrastination of packing another suitcase in my heart, I give you…..

10. Elf – 2003

Even though I am not the biggest fan of Will Ferrell as an actor, this movie cracks me up! When Buddy discovers Santa at the mall is not the real Santa and says to him, “You stink.You smell like beef and cheese.Your not Santa.” I just die of laughter.

9. A Christmas Story – 1983

A classic Christmas movie. Every year they play re-runs of this move for twenty-four hours before Christmas day. My favorite scene in the whole movie is when Ralphie comes down the stairs in a giant pink Easter bunny outfit that his Aunt Clara made for him. I loose it when his dad says, “He looks like a deranged Easter bunny.” Hysterical.

8.  Miracle on 34th Street – 1947

I loved this movie when I was a little girl. Probably because I used to pretend I was the little girl in the movie. Also, Natalie Wood, who plays Susan Walker in the movie is a wonderful actress. This movie is a true reminder of the Christmas spirit.

7. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Animated) – 1966

I remember jumping up and down full of excitement when I would watch this movie on VHS with my two brothers. Of course, Cindy Lou Who was my favorite. I thought her eyes were as big as mine…I seriously looked like an alien baby when I was born. True story.

6. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – 1989

Ahhh, The Griswolds. My favorite American family. This movie is full of great one liners and just sheer raw comedy. My favorite line is when Clark gets back from the tree farm and his snotty neighbor’s, Todd and Marry Chester are standing outside, and Todd asks him, ” Hey Griswold. Where do you think you are going to put that big of a tree?” “Bend over and I’ll show you.” “You’ve got a lot of nerve talking to me like that Griswold.” ” I wasn’t talking to you.” Booyah!

5. White Christmas – 1954

Bing Crosby is one of my favorite actors. I love this movie because what person doesn’t want a white Christmas. Plus, as a child I wanted to put on the red outfits that the women wore and dance around and sing. Don’t judge.

4. Scrooged – 1989

Probably one of Bill Murray’s funniest movies of all time. This adaptation of a Christmas Carol is completely witty from start to finish. The best part is when the Ghost of Christmas Present hits Frank with a toaster on the head for no reason.

3. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (Animated) -1964

The best animated Christmas movie period. Between Sam the snowman, Yukon Cornelius the explorer, Kerby the dentist, and the Island of Misfit toys, this movie is absolutely fantastic.

2. Love Actually – 2003

I cry every time the friend goes back to Keira Knightleys’ characters front door step and does the cards with the stereo. I will say that the best line in the movie is when the old rocker Billy is on the British TV show equivalent to TRL and tells kids, “Kids, don’t buy drugs. Become a rock start and they give them to you for free.” I seriously pee my pants.

1. It’s a Wonderful Life – 1946

James Stewart is phenomenal. Plain and simple, this is the best Christmas movie of all time.
