Twenty-nine years. That’s how long I’ve been going down to Table Rock Lake. You’d think I would be bored, disinterested, and over the whole Ozark scene after all of those years. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, my love for this murky, bath water like lake nestled in the Mark Twain National Forest still makes my heart skip a beat.
I remember as a little girl sleeping in my yellow, polka-dot bathing suit the night before we left on our family vacation because I was full of excitement and anticipation. I couldn’t wait to splash around in the water, eat cheesy pizza, and water ski until my hands were too sore to hold the handle. I wanted to soak it all up.
Now as an adult, not a whole lot has changed. I still get giddy the night before our departure, only now, I leave the bathing suit in the suitcase. We still order out pizza, but now add cold, frothy beers to the menu. And we still rip it up on the lake, only we do two boat runs instead of six (darn that old age).
Even though our trip this year was short, we still managed to have a blast. Let’s checkout some of the highlights, shall we?
*Breakfast sandwiches were consumed while sitting outside on the front deck.
*Boating activities in the afternoon comprised of wakeboarding and water skiing.
*Swimming at the dock – happy hour is from 4pm to 6pm!

*Dinner shifts were divided between couples – steak sandwiches, chicken kabobs, and a childhood favorite, Pizza Hut pizzzzza!

*Our evening entertainment came from a newly formed garage band. The talented members – John, Jordan, Sarah, and Mr. B. In case you’re wondering, I played an egg shaker. Don’t ask.

*Spending time with Miss Josie (a.ka. Boogie or Boogs) at the lake was the biggest highlight for our family. Aren’t those cheeks cute?

*The best part of the trip for me was being asked to be Josie’s fairy Godmother! Love you Boogie.

Until next time, Table Rock.
