As I was looking through old posts last night, I realized something. I have not done a single post on my current favorite books. Crazy, right? I know!

So, grab a seat on the couch, place a soft blanket over yourself, brew a cup of tea, and relax. Let me take you into my world of favorite writings…

Thomas Keller’s: Ad Hoc at Home

~ If you don’t know who Thomas Keller is, start googling. He is a culinary genius and the owner of the French Laundry, a restaurant ranked among the top in the world! Anyways, this book takes all of Keller’s crazy culinary skills and applies them to the home kitchen scene. Between the narrative stories and recipes, I promise it’s worth the read!

Sara Gruen: Water For Elephants

~ This book about is about a young veterinary student that discovers both of his parents have died in a car accident during the Depression-era. Rather then deal with the reality, he jumps aboard a train that happens to be carrying a circus tour. He immerses himself in the Carney world as an animal doctor, where he has to save the circus by getting an elephant to perform. Fun fact: the author studied elephant body movement at the Kansas City Zoo. Good read.

Christopher McDougall: Born To Run

~ I know this book has been out for awhile but I just love it. The book is about Christopher McDougall who runs a fifty-mile foot race over some serious rough terrain. Through this journey he figures out that all human beings are literally born to run and answers some serious questions like, why do expensive running shoes increase injuries? If anything it’s a fun read that will lead you to question some things at the end.

Heidi Swanson: Super Natural Cooking

~ I am obsessed with Hedi. Her blog, 101 Cookbooks, is something I aspire to. Between her photography, writing, and travels I seriously want to be her best friend. Her new cookbook explains how to take whole foods and make them apart of your everyday life. Between explaining nutrition, how to store whole foods properly, and the delicious recipes, I was hooked!

Michael Lewis: The Big Short

~ We all remember the craziness that went down on Wall Street a couple of years. For me, it feels likes yesterday. There have been a plethora of books written about really happened, what could have been prevented, and even books explaining financial jargon (CDO’s, credit swaps, derivatives, etc). My advice, read this book. Lewis guides you through the financial verbage and paints a true human perspective on what happened during the financial meltdown of 2008. He is also the author of The Blind Side, so it will be entertaining.

And there you have it!
