grilled cheese & chocolate sandwich with ganache dipping sauce
“Experience culinary bliss with our Grilled Cheese & Chocolate Sandwich. A harmonious fusion of savory and sweet, each bite promises a delightful indulgence that transcends traditional comfort food boundaries.”
Happy Galentine’s Day!!
(insert: chest bump)
Last year was my first year to celebrate this girl power holiday. GAH. So fun. I made Blood Orange Bourbon Fizz with Fried Sage cocktails and danced around with my hands in the air. Wait. You’ve heard of Galentine’s Day, right? If not, lezzzz me’s explain, mmkay.
Galentine’s Day is a special, Katie-Perry-hear-me-roar-woman holiday created by the effing hysterical TV folks over at Parks and Recreation. If you need details, this video will explain everything. In a nutshell, it’s a way to celebrate all of our home-girl friendships. Pretty cool, huh?
Anyways, to celebrate this pink driven “tine” holiday, I decided to make something cheesy and chocolaty. This sandwich is a no-fly zone for Mr. B. He doesn’t partake in sweet and savory mixing. It’s a constant struggle in our household because he is also a sectional eater. Someday I will get him to turn, someday (cue maniacal laugh).
I am kind of smitten with this sammie because you can make it for yourself or make a bunch for your favorite gals! And the best part, it takes like 2.2 nano seconds to make, which means more time for giggle juice!
Happy Galentine’s Day!

4 slices brioche bread
4 slices fontina cheese
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup melted semi-sweet chocolate chips
sea salt flakes, garnish
for the dipping sauce:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon whipping cream
Directions:
for the sammies:
Preheat a skillet to medium heat. Spread 1/4 cup of the melted chocolate onto two slices of bread. Place slices of fontina on top of the chocolate. Top with remaining two bread slices and butter both sides.
Add the sammies to the skillet and cook until the cheese has melted about three to four minutes per side. Serve with ganache dipping sauce and sprinkle of sea salt flakes

Whaat? That is crazy. Sounds like the best kind of sweet + savory! 😀
Shut the front door! This needs to happen! So pinned!
What the what now?! This sandwich is too much to handle on a Friday morning. I want it so bad!
Get out of town! This looks ridiculous. I’ll have this for Galentine’s Day and every day in between!
Ugh…what is it with men and not liking the sweet and savory together? My husband is the same way. This is the exact reason why we need a Galentine’s Day! Chocolate + Cheese for life!
These sandwiches look so sinfully perfect gaaah. I can’t stand it. And the ganache dipping sauce and the SALT. Ah! I’m in love. No puns intended, this is epic.
YOU ARE KILLING ME SMALLS!! chocolate and cheese my faves…this with red wine. HEAVEN.
Oh, my gosh!!! Best grilled cheese in the world! I don’t know a single female who’d reject this sandwich 🙂
Plus the dipping sauce! Dying over here.
I’ve had a brie and chocolate sandwich before, but never fontina – it sounds so darn good! Plus, those pics, so tempting.
I love that not only do you have chocolate on the inside of this sandwich, but you dip it in more chocolate too. You’re my kind of gal. Which, you know, means I have only one thing to say – Happy Galentine’s Day! xoxo!
Lauren, you’ve SLAYED me with this amazing sammy! I’ll eat whatever your husband didn’t – I’m drooling right now, no joke. These photos are absolutely gorgeous! Happy Galentine’s Day!
I love cheese and chocolate together. Plus, I totally respect your extra chocolate dunking cup!
Grilled cheese + chocolate together = WHY I LOVE YOU. Thanks for being a gal pal! 😉
Grilled cheese for dessert and Galentine’s Day? I’m in!
I’m kind of crying from laughing about the chest bump at the top of the post – is it weird that I could picture us doing that?!
Oh heeyyyyyyy beautiful!! This is one sexy grilled cheese. Holy smokes!
I have no idea what a sectional eater is but it does sound disagreeable. That sandwich, on the other hand, is all kinds of wonderful! I love a salty sweet combo!
Seriously… one day I’d love to open up your site and find something I DON’T want to eat. This? THIS?! Insanely amazing. You are awesome.
I am all for chocolate and cheese…especially when it’s all melty like this!! Can Galentine’s Day be EVERY day?! Please say yes.
This sounds absolutely amazing… can’t wait to try it!
I want to live inside these sandwiches. If I suddenly disappear, you will know where to find me. Heaven. Chocolate heaven between two buttery slices of more heaven.
