Fresh Air Retreat: Charleston, South Carolina
Fresh Air Retreat is a high-level, experiential marketing retreat for expert food influencers & brands looking to grow, learn and network! Check out our Charleston recap below!
I recently returned from my seventh Fresh Air Retreat! Hard to believe I’ve co-hosted so many food blogging retreats with the incredible Liz of The Lemon Bowl.
In case you want to walk down memory lane, we’ve traveled all over the country: Scottsdale, New Orleans, Park City, Austin, Miami, Palm Springs, and recently to vibrant Charleston.
Fresh Air Retreat is a unique experience where high-level influencers and sponsors come together in a private home to connect, learn and of course, eat delicious food.
Attendees
I must say our Charleston retreat had a fantastic lineup of attendees. These ladies were not only incredibly charming but brought a wealth of knowledge so everyone could learn and continue to grow their businesses.
- Elizabeth of Everyday Elizabeth
- Annie of Sweet Peas and Saffron
- Kylie of Cooking with Cocktail Rings
- Lauren of The Curious Plate.
- Liz of The Lemon Bowl.
- Monique of Ambitious Kitchen
- Hetal of Milk and Cardamom
- Eden of Sugar and Charm
Our Sponsor Experience
In addition to spending time with an incredible group of women, we also got to connect with some amazing sponsors!
Happy Egg
I’ve worked with Happy Egg for a long time and I must say they really are just the happiest people to work with! To say I was giddy to help highlight their happy eggs in a five course tasting meal prepared by Chef Trimell was an absolute pleasure.
The Happy Egg Menu: Green Eggs and Ham with Jalapeno Jelly, Cornbread and Scrambled Eggs, Eggs Two Ways: Petite Filet with Sunny-Side Up Egg & Vegetable Frittata, and Caramel Egg Custard.
In case you didn’t know, Happy Egg hens require a minimum of 21.8 square feet of range for every bird, which equates to 10 acres per 20,000 birds. Also, inside every Happy Egg, you’ll find a rich amber yolk; every egg has a quality you can see, and a difference you can taste. I really appreciate that they support small family farmers and currently work with 103+ small family farms throughout the midwest.
Mediavine
I’ve been married to Mediavine since 2014 so to actually spend time with them IRL was so much fun! In my opinion they aren’t just your basic ad management company they really do care about you and your business. I really appreciated how they helped us think about our business strategies and how to increase our ROI. It was a much needed round table discussion that was thoughtful, constructive and very motivating to apply these processes to our main infrastructure.
Grocers List
I can’t say enough good things about Ben and Grocers List. He is an absolute gem and a HUGE advocate for our industry. In case you don’t know about Grocers List, it’s the service I use to send you recipes via Instagram. This is just one vertical they offer. Grocers list offers many opportunities to grow your business and lets just they have a few options that are coming down the pike that will blow your mind. If you are using ManyChat, leave now and save yourself the trouble by joining Grocers List. You will thank me later!!!
Sabrina Loyer Coaching
As someone that is on social media all the time the space can be draining. It was so refreshing to have Sabrina Loyer, a social media coach who takes a unique approach to helping content creators connect with their creative side. Spoiler alert: it has nothing to do with algorithms. Anyway, it was an insightful conversation chatting about how to not burn out, connecting with your inner child and showing up for yourself!
Culinary Adventures
Last but not least you can’t have a food blogging retreat without food! As usual, our in-house executive chef, Chef Trimell Hawkins prepared a weeks worth of drool worthy meals. To name a few:
- Lebanese Family Style Dinner
- Frittata and Oats Bar
- Asian-Inspired Lunch with Mango Salad and Shrimp Rolls
- Chef’s Tasting Dinner
Besides dining at the house, we had the opportunity to enjoy two offsite meals. One with Explore Charleston at Sullivans Fish House. Don’t skip on their hush puppies, baked oysters or fried chicken.
We also visited downtown Charleston with Mediavine and made a pit stop at rooftop cocktails and Frannie & the Fox for wood-fired pizzas and meatballs!
****HUGE THANKS AGAIN to our incredible sponsors: Happy Egg, Mediavine, and Grocers List. Also, thank you to our wonderful attendees who made the journey and who I now call best friends! Thank you to Amanda who captured all these amazing photos and to our in-house executive chef, Chef Trimell for keeping us well fed! Until next time!***
