spicy chicken sausage and cheese muffins

We all remember the movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective staring Jim Carrey. This was the movie that critic’s say really launched his career. Although I sometimes disagree because the 1980’s flick Once Bitten, with Lauren Hutton as a vampire trying to bite a virgin Jim Carrey, was epic. The movie had awesome synthesizers and neon clothing.
Anyway, one of my favorite scenes from Ace Ventura is when Ace visits Ray Finkle’s parents’ home. He is trying to figure out if Ray (the kicker for the Miami Dolphins) stole the mascot dolphin, Snowflake.
Ace: “You have a lovely home.”
Finkle’s Mom: “Thank you. Would you like some cookies?”
(Ace looks around the less-than-desirable home and Mrs. Finkle returns with the cookies)
Ace: “Oh, look….little footballs.”
Finkle’s Mom: (in a sweet and creepy voice): “L-a-a-c-c-ces o-u-tttt!”
I die of laughter every time I watch that scene. Please tell me I’m not the only one?
The reason I bring up this particular scene is because football season is upon us, which means our Saturdays or Sundays are spent either at a tailgate or in front of the tube. You may have a favorite team to cheer for (might I recommend Kansas State) or you’re just rooting for the underdog. You might just enjoy the social scene or you’re determined to keep track of every yard gained or lost. No matter how you slice it, you will need fuel to get through the game.
These spicy chicken sausage and cheese muffins are brilliant if you ask me. They are cheap, easy, and can feed a crowd in 2.2 Nano seconds. Okay, that may be a stretch, but you get the point. I will warn you, these aren’t for the faint of heart. Fresh jalapeno, onion, garlic, and andouille sausage will keep you cheering loud well into the 4th quarter. If you aren’t of the spicy variety, you can always omit the jalapeno and add more cheese!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a Blood Mary to drink and a dreamy quarterback to stare at. #CollinKlein. Go State!

I totally remember that scene! I was so young when I watched that and probably didn’t even get it but I’m laughing so hard just reading it now! And these muffins are amazing. I’m not much of a savory muffin-type person but you’ve totally changed my mind about that as football season is upon us!
I still quote this movie way too much! It’s full of great one-liners. And yay for football season! These muffins are great for tailgates or as a side for brunch. I used to be on the non-savory muffin path too, but these totally made me a believer.
These sausage muffin creatures are gorgeous and I love that you enjoyed them with a nice big beer! Your muffin tray is one beautiful mass of wonderful and I really like what you’ve got goin on in your kitchen!
Thanks, Julia! They were quite delish and paired well with the beer. Cheers to football season!
