Modern Comfort Cooking turns ONE + GIVEAWAY!
Modern Comfort Cooking is a cookbook full of delicious meals of all your favorite comfort foods made fresh and new!
Can you believe it?
ONE YEAR!
Yep, yep. Today Modern Comfort Cooking turns a year old. Crazy how time flies. I remember announcing that I was writing a cookbook back in April of 2017. After the announcement, it was off to the races because I had less than three months to finish my manuscript and take all the photography! Whoa bessie.
But all that hard work paid off because I got to see the fruits of my labor with three amazing launch parties, reviews from major publications like Oprah & Real Simple. Plus, I teamed up with Olena Films to make Modern Comfort Cooking come to life with a cookbook trailer. Also, this trailer still gives me all the feels.
Even though it’s only been a year, Modern Comfort Cooking has given me so much. Yes, it sounds cheesy AF, but it’s true. Seeing people make the recipes from the cookbook makes my heart full. Having people tell me they got back into the kitchen because they were so excited to make a recipe. Hearing my photography has inspired someone to pursue their passion is what really this all about.
It’s not about me. It’s about YOU. YOU made the cookbook come to life and for that I can’t thank you enough. For your continued devotion to CGM to making all the crazy recipes I put in front of you to giving me a chance to do something that I am wildly passionate about.
With that, the best way to say THANK YOU and celebrate Modern Comfort Cooking is to giveaway a copy + $150 Gift Card to Nordstroms to one lucky reader!

Christmas Morning Monkey Bread or Brie en Croute 🙂
I make a family recipe for Cheesy Potatoes and for a dessert I make an apple crumble made with crunchy granola instead of just oats!
Oh, where to begin?!
I’ll bake about 10 different kinds of cookies including a recent find of Gingerdoodles and a longtime favorite, Buried Cherries.
For friend gatherings, allllll the dips and some small bites.
For Christmas breakfast, orange marmalade muffins are a must.
For the family meal, I’m here for the sides: classic cheesy potatoes plus roasted brussels sprouts.
Cheers to one year!
I love to make appetizers! I’m not a big sweet tooth but give me anything savory and warm and I’m a happy girl! This is a fun giveaway!!
Alllllll the cookies. But my absolute favorite are these creme wafer cookies that my mom and I used to make! I don’t know what the cookies are actually called but they’re delicious delicate buttery and flaky gems with frosting sandwiched between. The recipe is on a super old handwritten index card covered with butter smears. I get as much joy from using the old family recipe as I do eating the cookies. 🙂
Cheeseballs always feel holidayish to me – probably because it’s the only time of year I eat them. I also love ableskivers, which are a tradition from the Danish side of my family. Fudge is another holiday family tradition for us. As I wrote this comment, I’m realizing that I probably can’t choose just one favorite. Lol.
My favorite thing to eat is my mother’s pumpkin pie!
We make dumplings and Singapore noodles for Christmas Eve!
It’s totally a beautiful glazed ham! The desserts aren’t bad either!
My favorite thing to cook during the holidays is silly but I can not go a year without making it…CHEX MIX!!
Monster cookies – a long time holiday tradition! Thank you and congrats.
I love baking pound cakes and iced sugar cookies to give as gifts to friends.
Either homemade pirohi (pierogies) or black bottom chiffon pie. Both are time consuming to make, but so worth it in the end.
My favorite thing to bake and to eat during the holidays is stuffing! No turkey required, I like using many different recipes with lots of veggies, too. It magically only seems to taste extra delish between Thanksgiving and Christmas! So many of these recipes sure look scrumptious!
All things cookie and my husband must have a Christmas ham to make ham sandwiches!! ????
I love baking and eating a ton of cookies! Like, I probably make thousands. I just love it! Congrats!!
I love making potato salad
English toffee!!!
I really love experimenting with healthier versions of desserts I love. Also my Grandmas quiche. I squirrel it away when we visit
I love making and eating piragi, Latvian bacon rolls, just like my grandma used to make!
Chocolate dipped holiday pretzel sticks
My favorite thing to eat during the holidays is Chocolate fudge. My favorite thing to make during the Holidays is Red Velvet cake.
I love making cinnamon rolls.
My favorite Christmas dish – got to be gingerbread. Not necessarily cookies but I love them too but made like a cake in a 8×8 or 9×9 pan. We eat it for dessert, for snacks or even for breakfast. If we’re having it for dessert, then I serve it with homemade whipped cream! Yum!
Christmas cookies with my mom and sister!!! We make six different kinds and spend the whole day listening to Christmas music together and having fun, best day of the year ❤️
My favorite thing to bake (and eat) during the holidays is pumpkin pecan cheesecake – yum!
It might be simple but my favorite thing to both make and eat at the holidays is gravy! It’s such a key ingredient to smother your food in after it’s plated. Just thinking about the stuffing and gravy I had at Thanksgiving is making my stomach grumble. ????
I am really experimenting with some new foods this year trying to get some traditions started! I’m really wanting to start a tradition of tamales on New Years! One of my favorite holiday foods is stuffing! YUM!
My mother’s Swedish cherry T-ring!
I’m always the cookie maker and I LOVE it!! I make a variety of cookies hitting all of the seasonal flavors. I always include my great grandma’ glazed orange cookies, which are a family favorite 🙂
I had never considered pairing pot roast with noodles, but when I did, I went completely nuts and added some jalapeño peppers to the mix, then just garnished with cilantro. I love you CGM. Lauren, you have made my kitchen happy again.
Cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning!
It might be kind of a weird one for winter since it’s cold but I can’t seem to get enough peppermint bark ice cream this time of year!
We have a tradition of waffles on Christmas Eve, so I love to make big giant waffles with tons of topping options. So fun! Thank you for the fabulous giveaway!
I like all things peppermint during the holidays.
I love making Pecan Buns from my mom’s recipe to give as gifts and have for a special Christmas morning breakfast!
My favorite thing to eat during the holidays is gumbo. I’m from south Louisiana, so this is a tradition.
Congratulations! I love your recipes! My favorite thing to cook for the holidays is pistachio, white chocolate, cranberry cookies.
I love baking cookies with my mom during the holidays. We make all different kinds, but always toll house, sugar, lemon bars, and chaocolate coconut bars. It’s a tradition I will always charish.

I have great memories of eating my mom’s Christmas morning coffee cake growing up. Just the thought of the yummy warm cake, fresh out of the oven and topped with streusel and cinnamon makes me hungry! It was always the best way to start off the Christmas festivities!
All types of cookies and appetizers but I love gingerbread and pumpkin. I also love anything made with buttenut squash and brussel sprouts. My favorites being butternut squash soup and root vegetable medley with Brussels sprouts and balsamic glsze. Love your recipes and thank you for the giveaway.

I love to bake s cherry cake, a lot of cookies and candies. My favorite dish is a toss up between the Holiday Ham or the roasted vegetable medley. Personally I love it all!
