Raise your hand if you need a simple appetizer withins arm reach?
I’m a big fan of having a few app options on rotation that can be made quick, fast, and in a hurry. Because there’s nothing like the in-laws stopping over unannounced and offering celery sticks with ranch.
Of course there’s nothing wrong with a Midwesterner classic snack, but here are a few appetizers that I make when I need something fancy without the fuss: 15-minute Greek Feta Salad, Apple Glazed Meatballs, Tequila Chicken Queso Fundido, and now these Cardamom Blackberry Brie Bites!
What’s great about these bites is how universal they can be. Use whatever fruit or cheese you have in the fridge. It’s the perfect salty and sweet snack to enjoy in 20 minutes or less!
Let’s get cooking!

Variations for Cardamom Blackberry Brie Bites
One of the many reasons why I enjoy making small bites is the variations. Below are a few subtle ways to mix up these bites:
- Honey Drizzle: After assembling the brie and blackberry on the cracker, drizzle a bit of honey on top. The sweetness of the honey will complement the tartness of the blackberries and the creaminess of the brie.
- Toasted Almonds: Sprinkle some toasted slivered almonds on top of the brie and blackberry. The crunch and nuttiness will add an extra dimension of flavor and texture.
- Balsamic Glaze: Drizzle a little balsamic glaze over the assembled bites for a touch of acidity and sweetness that pairs wonderfully with the creamy brie and fruity blackberries.
- Prosciutto: Wrap a thin slice of prosciutto around the brie and blackberry before placing it on the cracker. The salty, savory flavor of the prosciutto will contrast beautifully with the sweet blackberries and creamy brie.
- Fig Jam: Spread a thin layer of fig jam on the cracker before adding the brie and blackberry. The rich, earthy sweetness of the fig jam will complement the flavors of the other ingredients.
- Thyme Sprig: Place a small sprig of fresh thyme on top of the brie and blackberry. The herbal aroma of the thyme will add depth to the flavor profile of the bites.
- Candied Pecans: Chop up some candied pecans and sprinkle them on top of the brie and blackberry. The caramelized sweetness and crunch of the pecans will elevate the dish.
Proper Storing
Here are some guidelines on how to store these bites:
Separation: If you’re storing the bites in layers, place parchment paper between the layers to prevent them from sticking together.
Use within a few days: While brie bites can typically last a few days in the refrigerator, they are best enjoyed within 1-2 days for optimal freshness. The crescent dough may become soggy over time, so it’s ideal to consume them relatively quickly.
Avoid Freezing: Freezing is not recommended for brie bites as it can affect the texture and flavor of both the brie and the blackberries.
