Who doesn’t love a festive cake? The best part about making this Ultimate Ugly Sweater Chocolate Cake is that you can use whatever you have in your pantry. You can make it homemade or from a box. For this version you will need:
- 1 box favorite chocolate cake mix or make your own homemade chocolate cake
- Vanilla frosting
- Red food coloring
- Variety of candy, sprinkles, etc. for decorating

- Cake. I’m a big believer in saving time where you can so if you want to make a chocolate cake from a box you go right ahead! However, if you want to make a decadent chocolate cake from scratch….my Ultimate Chocolate Sheet Cake is a game changer.
- Frosting. Again, if you want to purchase store-bought frosting, I say GO FOR IT! Otherwise, use my recipe from vanilla or chocolate frosting.

You can keep the cake at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days! If you want to freeze the cake I would freeze the whole cake to help keep it moist. If you freeze the cake it will last up to 3 months.

The Ultimate Ugly Sweater Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 1 box Favorite Chocolate cake mix or homemade
- 3 cups Box Vanilla frosting or homemade
- 6 drops Red food coloring
- Decorations – peppermint rounds, white m&m's, sprinkles, candy canes, rolo rounds, etc.
Instructions
- Cook the chocolate cake according to the package instructions. Once baked, remove from oven and cool before frosting.
- In a small bowl combine 2 cups of the vanilla frosting with red food coloring. Spread the frosting over the cooled chocolate cake. Next, put the 1 up of vanilla frosting into a Ziploc bag. Cut the corner and pipe an outline of sweater with the vanilla frosting.
- Decorate the sweater cake with any of your favorite decorations. Serve and enjoy!
